The moment Alexander Wang started working on his collection for Balenciaga he pictured the new flagship store in New York. Together with the interior designer Ryan Korban they made it happen. My favorite part is the marble and limestone tiles that has it’s homage in the couture salons from Cristobal Balenciaga’s era. The green marble feels masculine and the limestone feminine, which is a balance reflected in Balenciaga clothes. The “cracked resin” walls are interesting and add a mineral luster to the space. Everything about the shop is graphic, sharp and clean; in my opinion a feeling of a futuristic bank vault I don’t mind, at all.
As a result we can find the new flagship @148 Mercer Street.
