The thing with a blog is that it is personal. Thus, I have chosen to highlight some of my favorite moments from my time at Oscar de la Renta, where I worked on the footwear and accessories department. Here are some fragments from the behind-the-scenes, shows, press and ad campaigns. I will also tell you this, if you ever touch a Oscar gown, you would want to get married. Even if it’s never been one of your dreams.
There are days like today, when you wake up realizing life was still an ongoing battle on the other side of the Atlantic, when the rest of us were sleeping. To then find out that there is no tomorrow for some of us. During my night sleep my former employer and court dressmaker designer Oscar de la Renta passed away, after a long battle with cancer. I am very honored to have worked for you and I will never forget when you taught me how tie a bow, or showed me how to make a salsa step, or how you would say “just make something beautiful”, or how those constantly curious brown eyes of yours always would smile back at me giving me hope – moments everything just felt impossible. As a tribute of this tough morning a collage will come during the day. Thank you for everything you taught me. RIP Oscar de la Renta.
Finally the Alexander Wang x H&M photos are out – maybe a dream collaboration for many who’s dreaming of affordable fashion. The collection shows an obvious sport statement tweaked with street casualty and futuristic chic cuts and stilettos. The collection not only makes me wanna do boxing and after-work but lot’s of dancing. Not sure why, but let’s just Wang it in November.
After fashion month and glimpsing through a katrillion spring/summer 2015 collections my eyes need rest – don’t get me wrong I can’t wait for the spring to come – but wait there’s also street style. Here, is where I actually get my best inspiration from, simply because it’s here, now and tangible. As much as I love extravagant dresses and living in Paris, where you can actually pull that off without being stared at, I also like to keep things simple. What will always be effortless hot, to me, is the denim; jean and blouse, jean and a polo, jean and a shirt. Here’s my Monday collage from Gisele Bündchen backstage at Calvin Klein 2000 show to Milan Fashion Week SS2015.
Spotted outside my building Louis Vuitton‘s latest campaign. A celebration of“Le Monogram” by contributors Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin, Marc Newson, Cindy Sherman and Frank Gehry. Freja Beha doing her thing flawless with the bag creation by Christian Louboutin in my current obsession, the wrapped belt and knit underwear.
A few weeks ago I was asked to do styling for my friend and model Lina Sandberg‘s portfolio with photographer Jurij Treskow and make-up artist Regina Törnwall. The idea was eccentricity with graphic elements. For full story click here.
On my mind just now are hats! I’ve been searching for the perfect one for a while and this week I came across this lovely piece called “Henrietta”. I specifically like the cream color for the earlier fall days us coming. It’s from the French Maison Michel and it’s simply perfect to any day or night looks. Well, it’s Friday so let’s celebrate with this tune.
Finally back in Paris and back on track, after having to fix my wifi! Here are some behind the sceen snapshots from Thursday’s photo shoot, where I was styling. I wouldn’t mind these Giuseppe Zanotti killers…
